On 15th August 2025, history was made at the Ethiopian Embassy in London as we officially launched the British Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce (BECC). The evening brought together an array of distinguished guests from government, business, and community circles — representing industries from finance and technology to agriculture, energy, and creative enterprises.
The launch was a true celebration of collaboration, with attendees traveling from across the UK, Ethiopia, and beyond to witness the beginning of a new chapter in UK–Ethiopia business relations.

🌟 Founder’s Speech
The evening opened with a heartfelt and inspiring address by our Founder and Chairman, Arty Hyseni, who shared his personal and professional journey. His words reminded us all of the mission behind the Chamber: to build a trusted home for partnership, collaboration, and opportunity between Ethiopia and the UK.
🌟 Diplomatic Support
We were honored by the presence of H.E. Ambassador Biruk Mekonnen and the Ethiopian Embassy in London. In his keynote remarks, His Excellency highlighted the shared interests in technology, high-value export, and sustainable development as vital areas where Ethiopia and the UK can deepen their ties through the Chamber.
Joining us virtually from Addis Ababa, H.E. Ambassador Yohannes Fanta of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Chamber as “a vital mechanism to enhance market access and promote export,” further underlining the importance of this platform for Ethiopia’s future.
🌟 British Embassy Recognition
We were also privileged to hear from Sarah Hird, Trade and Investment Director at the British Embassy in Ethiopia, who praised the Chamber as “a valuable facilitator for UK and Ethiopian businesses.” Her words underscored the Chamber’s unique role in connecting opportunities across both nations.

Beyond the speeches, the evening was marked by meaningful conversations and new partnerships. Guests represented a wide array of sectors — from entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders to innovators, academics, and cultural representatives.
